About this board game

Fil Rouge: Shadow of the Tiger is a cooperative narrative game for 2–4 players, with an approximately 90-minute play time. Through illustrated cards, players reconstruct a visual story in four chapters about exile and the scars it leaves over time.

In each chapter, the cards are distributed among the players, with one card placed in the Frieze. Players must listen to one another, discuss what they see and feel, and discover the thread connecting the story. They may communicate freely, but they cannot show their cards to each other.

  • Cooperative storytelling for 2–4 players
  • A visual narrative told across four chapters
  • Illustrated cards arranged in the Frieze
  • Open discussion without showing cards

As conversations develop, players reveal their cards and place them in the Frieze, gradually bringing the sequence into focus. The experience encourages sensitive exchanges, emotional reflection, and shared interpretation rather than competition.

Fil Rouge: Shadow of the Tiger is designed to be played only once, creating a singular experience that can remain etched in the memories of those who share it. Its four chapters may be played consecutively or across several sessions, allowing each group to live the story at its own pace.

The first opus in the Fil Rouge range by Julien and Tom Prothière, Shadow of the Tiger invites players to cooperate not only to solve a sequence, but also to listen, talk about emotions, and experience a story together.
