FILLIT

About this board game

FILLIT is an abstract game from Japan for 2–4 players, with play lasting about 20 minutes. First released in 2018, it combines simple rules with deep tactical decisions.

Each player aims to place all of their color chips. On your turn, you must complete two actions: move your pawn and move one of your stones. You may choose which action comes first, creating important choices throughout the game.

• Move your pawn in a straight line to the end of its route.
• Your pawn cannot stop in the middle of the way.
• Place your color chips along the route of your pawn.
• If opposing chips are on that route, send them back to their opponent.
• If anything is on the destination of your stone, swap the stone and that thing.

The rules are easy to understand, but using your pawn and stones effectively is much more challenging. Every turn asks you to balance progress toward your own supply of chips with moves that affect the opposing players.

Winning comes from putting down all your color chips, so each route and stone movement can matter. FILLIT offers the focused interaction and careful planning expected from an abstract game while keeping its turn structure accessible.
