About this board game

First Contact is a party game for 2–7 players that takes about 40 minutes to play. In this imaginative language puzzle, ancient Egyptians and aliens must overcome a remarkable communication barrier.

Each turn, the aliens draw weird symbols to explain which earthly items they want to collect. The Egyptians then study these unfamiliar signs and try to deduce what each one means. Every exchange becomes a shared puzzle, with one side communicating through symbols and the other learning how to interpret an entirely new language.

The game gives both groups different goals. The aliens compete to be the first to grab their chosen souvenirs and fly back home, while each human player strives to become the best at learning the alien language. Success depends on making connections, spotting patterns, and understanding how the clues fit together.

  • Players: 2–7
  • Playing time: about 40 minutes
  • Style: associative deduction and party-game interaction
  • Theme: imaginary ancient Egyptians meeting aliens

First Contact is designed for fans of associative and deductive games who enjoy solving unusual communication challenges. Its distinctive theme adds humor and character to the process, while every setup creates fresh puzzles for the players to unravel.

Whether you are trying to express a simple earthly object with an alien symbol or decode what the visitors are requesting, each game offers a new test of observation and interpretation. Released in 2018, First Contact promises an engaging group experience built around language, competition, and the fun of figuring out what the other players mean.
