First in Flight

About this board game

First in Flight is a 1–4-player push-your-luck, deck-building game about the race to early flight, with a play time of about 75 minutes.

Take on the role of the Wright Brothers, Samuel Langley, or another flight pioneer as you work to build and pilot a successful flyer. Each player’s design is represented by a personal deck of cards that can be steadily improved and refined over the course of the game.

Every flight is a test of judgment. In a blackjack-style challenge, push your design to break records and gain experience, but beware: unknown design flaws may threaten your success. Go too far, and your ambitious flight could end in a crash.

After each attempt, return to the workshop to develop your flyer and improve its chances on future flights. The path to progress is shaped by the cards in your deck and the choices you make while testing your design.
