About this board game

Fish Tank is a tableau-building game for 2–6 players that takes about 60 minutes to play. In this 2022 game, each player collects fish and arranges them in a personal aquarium.

Every kind of fish has its own scoring criteria, making the arrangement of your tank important. Some fish prefer the edges, while others like the middle. Some want to gather together, and others do not like having their own kind around them.

Players draft their fish over two phases, with each phase lasting eight rounds. As the draft progresses, players build their aquarium with multicoloured fish, creating a tableau that will be scored at the end of the game.

• Place fish that prefer the edges of the tank.
• Arrange fish that like the middle.
• Gather fish that score by being together.
• Keep certain fish away from others of their kind.

When both drafting phases are complete, every player has a 4 × 4 tableau of fish. The scoring criteria for the different kinds determine how many points each fish tank generates.

Fish Tank combines fish drafting with tableau building as players shape their own aquarium over 16 rounds. The player whose tank generates the most points is declared the winner.

With its colourful 4 × 4 layouts and varied fish preferences, Fish Tank gives each player a personal arrangement to develop and score.
