About this expansion

Flames of War: Afrika is a two-player World War II miniatures game experience with an approximate play time of 120 minutes, covering the Mediterranean Theater from 1942 to 1943.

Set during the third year of the war, it focuses on the struggle in Egypt and the Western Desert. The British Army and its Imperial allies face General Rommel, the legendary “Desert Fox,” alongside his Afrika Korps and Italian allies. As US forces land in Algeria and Morocco behind Rommel’s positions, the Desert Fox attacks while trapped between two opponents.

This book supports recreating famous battles including El Alamein, Kasserine Pass, Sicily, and Salerno using the Flames of War World War II Miniatures Game. It provides complete organization and equipment for forces in the Mediterranean Theater, making it a detailed resource for building and using armies from the campaign.

  • Organization and equipment for German, Italian, British, and US forces
  • Guides to divisions serving in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy
  • A history of the theater and individual histories of the nations involved
  • An airborne assault mission for German and US paratroops
  • Painting guides and inspiring color photographs

Flames of War: Afrika also highlights the exploits of notable figures such as Captain Charles Upham, Technical Sergeant “Commando” Kelly, Tenente Luigi Pascucci, and Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. These historical details complement the organization, equipment, and scenarios included for the Mediterranean campaigns.
