About this board game

Flapjacks & Sasquatches is an easy, take-that card game for 2–8 players, with games lasting about 20 minutes. Set in the Great White North, it challenges lumberjacks to use axes, dice, and clever card play to get ahead of one another.

Each player has a tree card in front of them. Every tree shows a chop value and a point value, creating a straightforward test: use Axe cards and roll the dice to try to meet or exceed the required chop value.

When your roll succeeds, you chop down the tree and collect the card, earning its points. The basic goal is simple, but the game’s take-that style gives fellow lumberjacks plenty of opportunities to interfere with your plans—or help themselves get ahead.

• Axe cards: Use them to roll the dice and attempt to chop your tree.
• Flapjack cards: Add to your roll when you need an extra boost.
• Blister cards: Take away from a roll and make chopping more difficult.
• Tree cards: Provide both the chop target and the points awarded when collected.

You may find a timely Flapjack that improves your chances, or suffer a Blister that slows your progress. Throughout the game, you must also stay wary of the dreaded Sasquatch while working to claim trees before your fellow players do.
