About this board game
Flip City: Wilderness is a standalone expansion for Design Town, also known as Flip City, a deck-building game for 1–4 players that takes about 50 minutes.
There is no hand of cards to manage. Instead, play cards directly from the top of your deck, deciding whether to continue or stop as you pursue coins and victory points.
- Card-playing phase: Reveal and play cards from the top of your deck. You may keep going unless three cry-face icons are in play, which ends your turn immediately.
- Building phase: Spend the coins gained from the cards you played to buy a new card or upgrade a card in your discard pile.
To upgrade a card, pay its cost and flip it over. The upgraded card remains in your discard pile, ready to become part of your deck later. Because every card is double-sided, take care not to flip cards accidentally when placing them in the discard pile or shuffling.
The choice to stop gives each turn a clear push-your-luck tension: continue playing for more rewards, or move on to building before your cry-face icons end the card-playing phase. Flip City: Wilderness also offers a direct path to victory for a bold play.
If you gain eight or more VP during a single card-playing phase, you win immediately. With its top-of-deck play, double-sided cards, and discard-pile upgrades, this 2016 release presents a distinctive standalone expansion experience for fans of Design Town and Flip City.
