About this board game
Floodlands is a roll-and-write game for 1–6 players that takes about 50 minutes, challenging apprentice cartographers to update a map after heavy rains have disrupted the region.
Incoming reports provide the information needed to chart the local infrastructure and landmarks. As you fill your map, you will draw land and water, along with buildings and resources, contributing to better-organized aid efforts.
Each turn, roll three dice and use their results to decide what can be added to your map. One die tells you how much land and water you are drawing, while the total of the other two dice determines which buildings or resources you can draw.
- Roll three dice every turn.
- Draw land and water onto your map.
- Use the total of two dice to draw buildings or resources.
The challenge lies in turning each incoming report and dice result into an updated map. Every addition helps shape your final layout as you work toward creating the most accurate representation of the flooded region.
Once every player’s map is full, scoring begins. The player with the highest score earns the Council’s reward and is recognized as the most skilled cartographer.
With its shared premise of disaster response and its roll-and-write format, Floodlands puts map creation at the center of every turn. Build your map one roll at a time, then see whose completed work best serves the region.
