About this expansion

Foundations of Rome: Roads of Fortune is a 2024 expansion for 1–5 players, with a play time of approximately 90 minutes. It extends the Foundations of Rome experience by making the city’s borders a valuable part of the game.

In Roads of Fortune, the edges of Rome are connected to the outside world. Traveling merchants, diplomats, philosophers, soldiers, and vagabonds approach the city gates, bringing knowledge and services that can lead to untold riches for those who control the borders.

Players are rewarded for maintaining majority control over the edges of the play area. Success at the perimeter unlocks powerful new abilities on a variable set of Road boards, giving the outer boundaries of Rome an important role in each game.

As the capstone expansion to the Foundations of Rome experience, Roads of Fortune is designed to work with any combination of existing modules. It also supports the Gardens of Ceres solo challenge, allowing the Roads to be included in a solo game.

With its focus on border control, changing Road boards, and improved player conveniences, Foundations of Rome: Roads of Fortune adds a new dimension to building and managing the city. Look beyond Rome’s boundaries to determine who gains control of the riches entering its gates.
