About this board game
Four Battles of the Ancient World is a game for 1–2 players with a listed play time of 60 minutes, released in 1992. It presents four separate battle scenarios from the ancient world, each with its own map and 100 counters.
Choose from four historic matchups: Alexander against Darius at Arbela; Roman Consul Varro against Hannibal at Cannae; Julius Caesar against Pompey at Pharsalus; or Roman Govenor Varus against the Germanic Tribes at Teutoburger Wald.
Each battle has a dedicated scenario, letting the game focus on a specific confrontation rather than combining all four engagements into one setting. The individual maps and counters give every included battle its own materials.
- Arbela: Alexander vs. Darius
- Cannae: Roman Consul Varro vs. Hannibal
- Pharsalus: Julius Caesar vs. Pompey
- Teutoburger Wald: Roman Govenor Varus vs. Germanic Tribes
Four Battles of the Ancient World includes Introductory, Basic, and Advanced Rules, offering three stated rule levels for approaching its scenarios. This structure makes the set suitable for players who want to begin with the introductory rules or use the basic and advanced options.
The game is also available as part of a box set with Battles of the Ancient World Volume II and Battles of the Ancient World Volume III. With four named battles, four maps, and a dedicated set of 100 counters for each battle, it brings a focused selection of ancient conflicts to the table.
