About this board game
Freeman’s Farm 1777 is a 60-minute battle game for 1–2 players and the first title in the Battle Formations game series. Designed for solitaire and two-player play, it challenges you to break three formations belonging to the opposing side.
Choose which formation to activate and decide how it should act. You might fire artillery, attack with infantry, move to a more advantageous part of the battlefield, or reinforce a faltering formation with troops from a stronger one. Every choice comes at a cost to the morale of your active formation.
Activation cards are limited, and formations are not always available when you need them. Each time you call upon a formation, your army gains momentum. Momentum can let an attacking formation continue pressing the attack, but doing so reduces both the momentum you have built and the morale of the formations involved.
- Break opposing formations by eliminating their troop markers or forcing failed morale tests.
- Manage limited activation cards and decide how long each attack should continue.
- Balance artillery, infantry attacks, movement, and reinforcement against morale costs.
- Use wooden troop and artillery markers on a board with shown unit placement for quick setup.
Each formation has a fixed number of troop markers that can be hit in combat, while morale loss can break it before those markers are gone. Push just enough to gain the advantage, or press too far and risk a failed morale test that breaks your own formation.
In solitaire mode, you can play as either the American or the British against the solitaire player game engine. Freeman’s Farm 1777 keeps the focus on battlefield choices, timing, and the consequences of every activation.
