About this board game

Fresh Fish is a market-building strategy game for 2–5 players, with an average play time of 45 minutes. As rising traders, players compete to secure the best spaces for their market stalls on a huge market square.

Your goal is to place each stall as close as possible to its matching delivery truck. A delivery cannot go directly from a truck to a stall, however: at least one path space must separate them. The closer your stalls are to their trucks, the fresher your goods will be for the market’s customers.

Space is limited, and every trader can interfere with the others. Market stalls block access to the shortest routes, while neutral flea market tables create additional obstacles. Choosing where to build is therefore just as important as reaching the right distance.

  • Bid for stall tiles in auctions.
  • Compete for valuable spaces on the market square.
  • Block rival routes while planning your own.
  • Balance path lengths against coins saved during bidding.

The auction adds a sharp layer of risk. Bid cheaply to preserve your coins, but losing an auction may leave you with a less desirable space much farther from the relevant truck. Paying more can secure a prime location, yet those spent coins will not be available to reduce your final result.

At the end of Fresh Fish, players add the path spaces between their market stalls and delivery trucks, then subtract their saved coins. The player with the lowest total wins, proving they offered the freshest goods to their customers.
