About this board game
Frontline: D-Day is a tactical World War II ground combat card game for 1 to 4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. It focuses on small-unit action during the D-Day beach assaults and the Allied advance toward Germany.
Each player commands a squad of 5 to 12 British, American, or German soldiers and vehicles. Every card represents a single soldier or vehicle, giving each unit inherent actions during the turn, including movement and attacks using different modes of fire.
The core actions are supported by an action card deck. These cards enhance basic actions and give units spur-of-the-moment options, adding tactical possibilities as the battlefield develops.
- Command squads made up of soldiers and vehicles.
- Use counters to track wounds, range, ammunition, command, and morale.
- Move and attack with units using different modes of fire.
- Play solo with enemy Tactic cards that issue general, specific, and conditional orders.
Frontline uses an easy-to-handle range system designed to simulate the movement of forces across the battlefield. Counters keep important unit information visible, helping players follow the changing condition of their forces during an engagement.
There are several ways to create a battle. Purchase starting forces, choose from pre-made scenarios, or use the balanced randomized engagement rules to generate a conflict. For solo players, the enemy Tactic cards respond to the current battlefield situation and direct opposing troops.
With its focus on squad-level decisions, flexible battle creation, and coverage of the campaign from the beaches of D-Day onward, Frontline: D-Day offers a compact tactical WWII experience for one to four players.
