About this board game

Frostgrave is a fantasy skirmish wargame for 2–8 players, with games lasting around 120 minutes, released in 2015. Set amid the frozen ruins of an ancient city, it challenges players to lead rival wizards in a search for the treasures of a fallen empire.

Each player takes the role of a wizard from one of ten schools of magic and builds a personal band of followers. The wizard’s apprentice usually joins the expedition, while more than a dozen henchman types can be hired, ranging from lowly thugs to heavily armored knights and stealthy thieves.

Individual games of Frostgrave are quick and can easily be played in an hour or two. However, the game’s greatest appeal comes from linking battles into an ongoing campaign, allowing adventures in the Frozen City to develop beyond a single scenario.

The scenarios included in the book are only the beginning of the possible adventures among the ruins. As wizards pursue ancient secrets and compete for treasure, every expedition offers a foundation for further exploration and conflict.

Official miniatures include wizards and apprentices from all ten schools, along with the soldiers available to join their warbands. Metal sculpts cover wizards, apprentices, and specialist henchmen such as the apothecary and thief, while a multi-part plastic box set provides variety for building common soldier types.
