About this board game

Fruit Boss is a 30-minute card game for 2–4 players about building valuable fruit sets and competing for marketplace dominance. Each player takes the role of a junior fruit executive, collecting stacks from the market to create a high-scoring private collection.

To claim a market stack, you must create a more valuable stack in an adjacent stall. On your turn, use actions such as stacking, sliding, and combining to reshape the market and pursue your goals. Because every move can open an opportunity for an opponent, timing and tactical positioning are essential.

  • Collect stacks from the market and build fruit sets in your private collection.
  • Pay into market stalls to snatch neighboring stacks.
  • Use stacking, sliding, and combining to create more valuable stacks.
  • Watch for stacks of five or more cards, which topple and remove themselves along with a neighboring stack.

Stacks must contain at least two cards to be collected, but growing them too large can be dangerous. If a stack reaches five or more cards, it topples, removing itself and a neighboring stack from the game. The Maneki-neko is also after the fruit, adding another thing to watch as the market changes.

At the end of the round, you score your top three fruit sets. Each set is worth the highest-value fruit multiplied by the number of cards in that suit, while extra fruit counts as a penalty. The player with the highest score wins.

Fruit Boss offers a classic card-game feel with modern tactics and mechanics. It plays especially well at two players and includes rules for up to four, combining quick turns, shifting market opportunities, and plenty of fruit-themed competition.
