About this board game
Full Metal Planète is a science-fiction strip-mining board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Players land on a planet, gather as much ore as possible, and try to take off before the game ends.
Each player has a base ship and a fleet of detailed metal units, including tanks, boats, barges, and mining equipment. The planet is presented on a detailed hex grid, creating a striking setting for a race shaped by movement, positioning, weather, and competition with the other miners.
Full Metal Planète uses a dice-free action point allowance system. On a turn, a player receives a pool of points and can divide them in different ways: spend them all to move one unit, or distribute them among several units. This gives every turn meaningful tactical choices while keeping the focus on planning rather than chance.
- Science-fiction ore-mining theme
- Action point movement with no dice
- Tanks, boats, barges, mining equipment, and a base ship
- Detailed hex-grid board and real metal miniatures
- Timed turns with irreversible moves
Every turn is timed, so players must think quickly and commit to their decisions. Once a move has been made, it cannot be retracted, making each action especially important as miners contend with the weather and one another.
Released in 1988, the game combines a distinctive physical presentation with tense resource gathering and tactical movement. Its online play has been supported through Full Metal Galaxy, Full Metal Program, and a VASSAL module.
