About this board game
Fury in the East is a two-player wargame covering the first nine months of the great Russo-German War, with an approximate playing time of 360 minutes. Released in 2010, it was designed by accomplished Japanese designer Ginichiro Suzuki and originally appeared as G-Barbarossa.
The game focuses on the changing capabilities of Soviet combat units and generals. Their strengths are not always known at the start, creating a distinctive information-reveal mechanism that makes combat outcomes especially significant.
When a general participates in combat for the first time, that counter is flipped to reveal the general’s true capabilities. Likewise, when a combat unit suffers a step loss, its previously unknown weakened capability is revealed. These hidden values give the Soviet side an unusual layer of uncertainty and discovery as the campaign develops.
