About this board game
Fzzzt! is a futuristic robot auction game for 2–4 players, with games lasting around 30 minutes. Set in a crackpot factory run by Master Central Processing Unit version D—McPUD—the game puts you in the role of a mechanic competing for strange and extraordinary robots.
Each game is played over five auction rounds. During every round, eight robot cards are individually auctioned to the highest bidder. However, you may not get to see all eight robots in advance: how much of the conveyor belt you can view depends on how fast McPUD is running it.
Mechanics pay for robot cards using the power allocations on cards in their hands. As the game progresses, the robots you purchase become part of that available power, creating an evolving pool of resources for future auctions. The robots themselves feature one or more symbols, reflecting the unpredictable effects of McPUD’s software bugs on production.
- Five rounds of robot auctions
- Eight robot cards auctioned individually in each round
- Power allocations on cards provide the means to bid
- Robots can contribute to Production Units for bonus points
After each round, and again at the end of the game, you can allocate cards to Production Units. These special cards require sets of robots with particular symbols, rewarding careful collection and timing with bonus points.
With its changing conveyor-belt information, unusual robots, and resourceful bidding, Fzzzt! combines auction decisions with set collection and production goals. When the final scoring is complete, the mechanic with the most points wins—a fitting result for anyone who can turn McPUD’s dodgy mechanics to their advantage.
