About this expansion
Galaxy Trucker: Latest Models is a spaceship-building board game for 2–5 players, with a playing time of about 90 minutes. Released in 2013, it introduces new game boards featuring four challenging model C spaceship designs.
Models 1C and 2C share a board, with color-coded spaces showing which areas are available only to 2C. Their hazards also add fresh surprises: asteroids approaching from the front or rear can swoop around to strike the side, while side-approaching asteroids can split in two and hit the ship twice.
A structural rift divides these ships down the center. When bridging it, universal connectors can connect only to other universal connectors, limiting their usual flexibility.
Model 3C takes a different approach. Its 6×6 tile grid forms a torus, with the top wrapping to the bottom and the left side wrapping to the right. Lasers need empty space in front of them, and engines need empty space behind them, so construction requires holes in the ship. Larger and more numerous holes increase the insurance cost paid before launch.
Model 4C provides room for four separate spaceships. The first time the sand timer is flipped, a die roll can open additional building areas that let players connect some of their ships. When the timer is flipped a second time, another roll may provide still more building sites.
- 1C and 2C: shared board spaces, unusual asteroid paths, and a central structural rift
- 3C: a wraparound grid with construction holes and insurance costs
- 4C: four ships and changing construction areas determined by die rolls
With its shifting building possibilities and distinctive spaceship layouts, Galaxy Trucker: Latest Models challenges players to adapt their designs to the model they are constructing.
