About this board game

Gangster is a competitive board game for 2–5 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Set in the 1920s and 1930s, it casts players as rival mob bosses battling for control of the gleaming city on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Each player gathers their “boys” and carefully places them throughout Chicago. By exerting influence in important locations, you seek control of the city’s contested districts and move closer to becoming the one true King of Chicago.

Time is limited: only three days remain to establish your power. Every placement matters as you compete with fellow bosses for valuable influence, while opponents pursue the same ruthless ambition. Use your opportunities wisely, because the gangster with the most influence at the end is proclaimed the boss of bosses.

• Compete as a mob boss against 1–4 rival players.
• Place your “boys” to exert influence across important city locations.
• Contest Chicago’s districts during three decisive days.
• Finish with the most influence to claim victory.

The struggle is dangerous as well as strategic. Rivals may be invited down to the river for breakfast and fail to make it back for supper, so every move carries the atmosphere of a life-or-death gangster rivalry.
