About this board game

Gatefall: Chapter One is a strategic miniatures game for 2–8 players, with games lasting around 180 minutes. It combines tactical combat, deck building, and resource management in head-to-head battles or a larger battle royale.

In the two-player mode, each player chooses a team. The fantasy team includes Brog, Gildri, and Randar, while the Wasteland team includes Exile, Firebug, Penny, and Lost Boy.

Both players begin with an identical ten-card deck containing seven “1” cards and three “0” cards. At the start of a turn, the first player draws five cards and adds their values together. This total determines how many actions their team can take.

  • Use actions to move one space or attack.
  • Depending on a character’s traits, actions can be shared across the team or focused on a single character.
  • Earn victory points by defeating opposing characters.
  • Reach 10 victory points first to win.

Defeat also affects the opposing player’s future options. When a character is killed, the victor gains the victory points shown on that character’s upgrade shop card. The player who lost the character adds one “0” card to their discard pile for every victory point listed there.

Killed characters respawn immediately in their base, but they cannot move or attack during their next turn, effectively losing a turn while respawning. For a larger free-for-all, Arena mode supports 2–8 players in a battle royale setting, giving Gatefall: Chapter One a broader multiplayer format alongside its two-player team battles.
