About this board game

Gelato Mio is a card game for 2–4 players with a play time of about 20 minutes, in which players collect ingredients, make ice creams, and fulfill customer orders to earn victory points.

Play proceeds clockwise, with each player taking one action on their turn. Carefully manage the ingredient cards in your hand as you work toward preparing ice creams and scoring more points than your opponents.

• Draw an ingredient: Take an ingredient card from the display.
• Make ice cream: Discard ingredient cards to create an ice cream.
• Prepare an order: Remove cards from the game to prepare ice cream for customers.
• Take from an opponent: Discard two cards from your hand to randomly take one card from an opponent’s hand.

Each of the four available actions offers a different way to develop your hand and move toward customer orders. Drawing builds your options, while discarding cards can turn collected ingredients into ice cream or help you prepare it for waiting customers.

The hand-interaction action adds a direct element of uncertainty: by discarding two cards, you can take one random card from another player’s hand. Decide when to improve your own collection and when to interfere with an opponent’s plans.

With its compact play time and straightforward turn structure, Gelato Mio brings the theme of making and preparing ice cream to a focused card-game format. The game was released in 2019 and features illustrations by João Quintela Martins, using some resources from Freepik.com.
