About this board game
Genial Spezial is a strategy board game for 2–4 players, with play lasting about 40 minutes. Across 20 rounds, players place two-hex tiles to connect towers and score points in four symbol colours.
On each turn, place one of your two-hex tiles on an empty space on the board. Connecting two or more towers earns points according to the coloured chips on those towers. Once a tower is scored, its chips are turned to their black side, which provides a different scoring value for future connections.
Careful placement is essential. Creating a new chain can score better than enlarging an existing one, since an extension scores only for the newly connected tower. Bonus fields add another opportunity: covering one advances any one colour by 1 space on the score track.
The game also features two different tower sizes. Connecting large towers grants a bonus of 1 point in every colour for each large tower included in the chain, making these connections particularly rewarding.
- Place two-hex tiles on empty board spaces.
- Connect towers to score across four symbol colours.
- Use changing chip values, bonus fields, and large-tower bonuses to improve your tracks.
- Balance every colour, because your weakest colour determines your final score.
After all players have placed their tiles over 20 rounds, the game ends. Each player’s lowest score among the four colours becomes their final score, and the player with the highest weakest colour wins. In Genial Spezial, broad and balanced scoring is the key to victory.
