About this board game

Gipfelkraxler is a dice-driven mountain race for 2–4 players, playable in around 30 minutes. Each player guides five mountain goats up a narrowing network of paths, racing to get two of them to the summit first.

On your turn, you may roll the dice up to three times. At the end of your turn, check whether your results match the requirement for one of the mountain paths. The combinations become more demanding as you climb, ranging from three-of-a-kind and a small straight to a full house or five-of-a-kind.

Luck matters, but timing and opportunism are just as important. The upper half of the board has room for only one goat per space, so reaching an occupied space can create a chain reaction. You may push one of your own goats one space toward the peak, while an opponent’s goat can be pushed back toward the valley.

  • Players: 2–4
  • Play time: approximately 30 minutes
  • Core challenge: match dice combinations to advance up increasingly narrow paths
  • Winning goal: be the first player to get two mountain goats to the summit

Every roll presents a choice between pursuing a difficult combination and taking advantage of the current positions on the mountain. A well-timed move can help your own climb, dislodge a rival, or trigger a useful sequence of pushes.

Released in 2015, Gipfelkraxler combines dice luck, positional tactics, and direct interaction in a compact contest for the peak.
