Gloomy Graves

About this board game

Gloomy Graves is a dark-fantasy board game for 2–4 players that takes about 45 minutes to play. You work as a gravedigger while epic battles rage continuously, leaving corpses of fantastical creatures piled up and waiting to be buried.

Your job is to manage both a private crypt and a communal graveyard. Each area has its own placement rules, so keeping everything organized is essential. Place the fallen in the right areas and group matching corpse types together to build your score.

The dead come from across a strange fantasy world, including pixies, goblins, unicorns, cyclops, and dragons. As you bury them, you earn points based on how well organized your private crypt and the communal graveyard become. Poor organization can leave you digging a grave for yourself.

In addition to points earned through placement and grouping, you can score at the end of the game for the number of different corpse types you managed to score on during play. This rewards attention to both organization and variety as you handle the ever-growing collection of remains.

When the work is complete, the player with the most points wins. With its contrasting burial areas, fantasy corpses, and focus on orderly placement, Gloomy Graves turns grave-digging into a competitive scoring challenge.
