About this board game

Glory: The Battles of First & Second Manassas and Chickamauga, 1861-63 is an American Civil War wargame covering three major battles, with high solitaire playability and sessions ranging from 3 to 10 hours.

Players can recreate First Manassas in 1861, Second Manassas in 1862, and the Battle of Chickamauga in 1863. The game operates at a detailed scale: each turn represents 75 minutes, each hex covers 250 yards (229 meters), and units are represented by brigades.

Glory combines familiar game mechanics with new elements designed to add challenge without overwhelming accessibility. Its rules booklet is less than eight pages, and the game uses practically no charts, allowing play to begin in approximately 15–20 minutes while leaving deeper nuances to master over time.

Four different approaches to play are included, ranging from Igo-Hugo to command-oriented LIMs. This gives the system a broad range of play styles within one framework. Glory: The Battles of First & Second Manassas and Chickamauga, 1861-63 was released in 1995 as the first game in GMT’s Series: Glory, designed by Richard Berg.
