About this board game

Go First Dice is a one-minute game for 2–4 players that uses four specially numbered twelve-sided dice to fairly determine who goes first—or to provide a simple game in its own right.

Roll the dice against one another and compare the results. There will never be ties, so the highest roll clearly identifies the first player. The set is designed to make this decision fair, rather than simply relying on ordinary dice.

Each die always has an equal chance of rolling high, whether all four dice are used together or any subset of two or three dice is rolled. This makes Go First Dice suitable for different player counts while preserving the same balanced result.

  • Four specially numbered twelve-sided dice
  • No ties when dice are rolled against one another
  • Equal chances for each die to roll high in groups of 2, 3, or 4
  • Fair determination of lower player positions as well as first place

The fairness also extends beyond choosing the opening player. The second-highest roll can determine who goes second, the third-highest can determine third place, and so on. This provides a complete player-order result in a single roll.

Released in 2012, Go First Dice offers a compact way to settle turn order without ties. Use the dice before another game, or treat their carefully balanced numbering as a very simple game by itself.
