About this board game

Goat ‘n’ Goat is a 30-minute card game for 2–5 players about combining goats to conquer mountains and earn the highest score.

Three mountains await, and your goats must work together to reach their highest parts. Goat cards come in three colors and show numbers from 1 to 5, with low numbers appearing more often. Mountain cards use the same three colors and have values from 3 to 9.

Players begin with 3–5 cards, while six cards are placed face up on the table. On your turn, play one or more goat cards showing the same number. Add them to your color stacks when the play follows the stack rules, but playing a lower number than the top card in a color forces you to place that color’s previous cards face down as penalty points before starting a new stack.

• Play cards with matching numbers to develop your goat stacks.
• Choose cards from the face-up row based on the number played.
• Discard collected goats to claim mountain cards of matching colors.
• Manage your hand and avoid accumulating penalty cards.

The number of cards played does not affect how many cards you take from the row—only the number shown on those cards matters. If your hand exceeds eight cards, discard down to eight and keep the discarded cards as penalty points.

After playing, you may discard goats of one color to collect a mountain card in that color with the same or a lower value. At the end of the game, mountain points are added, then one point is lost for every penalty card. In Goat ‘n’ Goat, careful timing and disciplined stacking can turn a herd of goats into a winning climb.
