About this board game

Goblins Breakfast is a fast-paced card game for 2–6 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. Each player takes the role of a goblin scrambling to eat as much food as possible while stopping rivals from doing the same.

Breakfast in the Goblin Warren is a competitive and dangerous meal. Bigger goblins pick on smaller ones, and the path to becoming bigger starts with eating a good breakfast. Players compete in a light-hearted arms race where food, weapons, and special actions can quickly change the situation.

At the start of the game, several cards are dealt to the center table. On a turn, a player chooses one of four options:

  • Take a food or weapon from the center of the table.
  • Use a bigger weapon than another player to steal a card from that player’s hand.
  • Eat a food card from hand to score it.
  • Play a special action card from the center and immediately resolve its effects.

These simple choices create quickly shifting strategies and plenty of chaotic fun. Players must decide whether to claim food, improve their weapon, disrupt an opponent, or use a special action at the right moment.

When the deck runs out, the player who has eaten the most food wins. Illustrated by Travis Hansen, the game includes about 60 cards and takes roughly five minutes to learn. Goblins Breakfast was also a finalist for the 2014 Ion Awards at the SaltCon board game convention in Salt Lake City.
