About this board game

Guderian’s Blitzkrieg: The Drive on Moscow is a high-complexity two-player campaign game, with a listed playing time of about 360 minutes, covering the German drive on the Soviet capital from September 21 to December 20, 1941.

The game focuses on the advance of the right flank of Army Group Center. Its forces include the 2nd Army, 4th Army, 2nd Panzer Group, and, for part of the campaign, the 4th Panzer Group. Turns represent one week, each hex covers 5 miles or 8 kilometers, and units range from battalions to divisions.

As the first game in The Gamers’ Operational Combat System series, Guderian’s Blitzkrieg introduces a substantial operational treatment of the 1941 campaign. It is not intended for novice players, but offers eight scenarios for exploring the campaign at different lengths and levels of commitment.

  • Two 22 × 34-inch full-color maps
  • Four double-sided counter sheets with 1,260 half-inch counters
  • A 32-page OCS system rulebook and a 32-page game-specific rulebook
  • Two eight-page OCS Charts & Tables booklets and three player aid cards
  • Two six-sided dice

With a complexity level rated High and solitaire playability rated Medium, this is a large and demanding operational game. The campaign can take from 6 to 40 hours depending on the scenario, while its extensive maps, counters, charts, and rules support a detailed examination of the drive on Moscow.
