About this board game

Guns & Steel: Renaissance is a standalone civilization game for 2–4 players, with an approximate play time of 70 minutes. Released in 2016, it introduces new cards and mechanisms that can be played on its own or combined with the original Guns & Steel.

The world is always changing, and traditional values face the challenge of new and improved ways. As the Renaissance sweeps through history, players guide their civilizations through shifting tides while seeking power, stability, and protection.

Each turn follows a clear sequence built around cards and development. First, play a card face-down during the Resource Phase. Then play a card face-up as a development during the Development Phase. During the Purchase Phase, you may buy one card from the supply.

  • Resource Phase: Play one card face-down as a resource card.
  • Development Phase: Play one card face-up as a development card.
  • Purchase Phase: Buy up to one card from the supply.
  • End of Turn: Retrieve cards if you have 0 or 1 card in hand, otherwise do nothing, then check whether you can place glory cubes on a wonder.

Endure the passage of time and leave an epic impression on the heritage of mankind. The game ends when all wonders have been taken, all Space Age cards have been bought, or a player has reached 15 VP tokens.

At that point, the player with the most VP wins. With its standalone format and option to combine it with the base game, Guns & Steel: Renaissance offers a dynamic journey through history for players seeking a changing civilization-building experience.
