About this board game

HATE is a post-apocalyptic campaign game for 2–6 players, with sessions lasting about 120 minutes. Based on the graphic novels by Adrian Smith, it plunges players into a dying world of ruined nature, monstrous lineages, and relentless tribal war.

Players guide their unique clans through a multi-game Chronicle, battling to survive while savagely plundering, mutilating, and demoralizing their opponents. Every conflict contributes to a larger struggle for power, with the fate of each warrior carrying lasting consequences.

Death is permanent for clan members. Once a warrior dies, that character is out of the game, making every violent encounter a potentially devastating loss and every decision an important part of the campaign.

  • Savagery: Gain it by committing unspeakable violence against your foes, then use it to upgrade your warriors.
  • Resources: Plunder the land to build your strength and develop your clan.
  • Village abilities: Unlock powerful new abilities that can shape your path through the Chronicle.
  • Rival clans: Battle other players as tribes struggle to crush their enemies into submission.

The player who uses savagery and resources most effectively to improve their warriors and village will have the strongest chance of victory. Yet power is not the only measure of success: the player with the most hate becomes the Tyrant and rules over the rest.

In HATE, the world is decayed but not entirely dead. As Worm follows his fate toward a possible rebirth of life, players wage their own brutal campaign for dominance in a setting where survival, ambition, and permanent consequences define every Chronicle.
