About this board game

Hell Hath No Fury is a strategic two-player simulation of the revolt of the Iceni and other British tribes against Roman occupation in Britain in 60 AD. Designed for a 90-minute game, it places the rebel British tribes and the Roman occupation forces in direct conflict.

One player commands the rebellion under the leadership of the warrior-queen Boudica. The other directs the Roman occupation forces. Each side faces a different position in the struggle, creating a contest shaped by opposing military and political goals.

Victory depends on demoralizing the opponent. Rather than relying on a single route to success, the game presents several ways to undermine the enemy’s position and bring the conflict to an end.

  • Kill opposing leaders.
  • Occupy certain areas on the map.
  • For the rebel player, rally additional tribes to the cause.

These objectives capture the central pressures of the revolt: leadership, control of important locations, and the ability to build support among the tribes. Players must pursue the conditions that weaken their opponent while responding to the opposing side’s efforts.

Released in 1985, Hell Hath No Fury focuses on a specific historical confrontation and presents it as a strategic simulation for exactly two players. Its clearly divided factions and multiple demoralization goals make it a focused game of rebellion and occupation, centered on the clash between Boudica’s forces and Rome’s presence in Britain.
