About this board game

HeroTec is a 30-minute board game for two players about building custom equipment for a superhero client. As rival lab-mates at an engineering firm, you will draft cards, manage resources, and race to complete four required types of items.

Each round, players sift through a shared Stockpile of cards featuring gadgets, costumes, vehicles, and lairs. Draft a card and place it directly into your Workshop, where it can be used for its resources rather than immediately becoming part of the finished display.

Your Workshop is the place to work with the game’s three resources: Circuits, Tools, and Reactors. Use these resources to build items for your Showroom, transforming available plans and materials into the equipment your benefactor has requested.

The first player to complete the job can claim victory, but finishing quickly is not the only goal. You must also try to build the best tech, balancing the cards you draft with the resources you can put to work in your Workshop.

With its shared stockpile, direct card drafting, and race to outfit a superhero, HeroTec presents a focused head-to-head challenge. The game supports exactly two players and plays in about 30 minutes, making it a compact contest for rival inventors. It was released in 2018 and appeared in the January 2018 Board Game of the Month Club $20+ package.
