About this board game
High Heavens is a tactical strategy board game for 2–4 players, with games taking about 75 minutes. Set above the earth on a hex grid, it pits Norse gods against Greek gods in a struggle for ultimate power.
Each turn, players draw five cards and receive three actions. You might invoke a god, move across the battlefield, attack an opposing figure, play a Divine Power card, use a god’s Special Ability, or acquire a dropped bonus chip. The cards you draw shape your options, encouraging players to adapt their plans from game to game.
- Hex-grid combat: Position your gods carefully as the two pantheons clash.
- Distinct mythological powers: No two gods are alike, and their abilities closely reflect the mythology behind them.
- Chip-based conditions: Red chips track health, while other colored chips represent effects such as Attack Bonus, Armor, and Disabled.
- Decisive victory goals: Eliminate all 12 gods in an opposing pantheon or destroy Asgard or Mount Olympus.
There is no reshuffling once the deck runs out, so fallen gods remain gone for the rest of the game. This gives every card and every loss lasting importance, while luck and tactical decisions combine to make each battle unfold differently.
Designed by award-winning video game industry veteran Ryan Lesser, whose credits include Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Beatles: Rock Band, and Dance Central, High Heavens brings lessons from video game creation together with a lifetime of board gaming. It is an expandable battle of gods where changing opportunities and permanent consequences keep the conflict tense from beginning to end.
