About this board game

Hitler’s War is a medium-complexity World War II strategy game for 1–3 players, with play ranging from about 1½ hours for its first scenario to 5 hours for a complete campaign.

The game examines the war in Europe at several different levels. Operation Barbarossa focuses on the four-year ground struggle between Stalingrad and Berlin, while The Fall of Germany begins on the eve of the Allied amphibious invasion of France and expands the conflict into Western Europe.

The War for Europe completes the picture with an examination of the entire six-year war and its many connected challenges. Players may launch bomber fleets against enemy targets, send Axis raiders and U-boats against Britain’s supply line with America, and commit major naval forces to contests for control of the seas.

Victory depends on more than battlefield decisions. Governments must determine war direction, production priorities, and research allotments, weighing choices that can be as important as deciding when to invade Russia or how much force to commit to France.

  • Choose how heavily to invest in airpower, mechanized armies, or U-boats.
  • Manage research priorities, including the race to build the atomic bomb.
  • Coordinate land, air, and naval operations across multiple scenarios.
  • Play on a map with approximately 300 km per hex and three turns per year.

With highly rated solitaire playability, Hitler’s War supports both focused scenarios and a sweeping campaign. Its combination of military operations and national-level decisions offers a broad strategic view of the European conflict in a compact, scenario-based format.
