About this board game

Holmes and Moriarty is an asymmetric two-player drafting game that plays in about 45 minutes, bringing Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty into a tense battle of wits.

Professor Moriarty is almost ready to enact his nefarious plan. Sherlock Holmes suspects that something is about to happen, but he does not know the details, so he must search London for the clues needed to stop his nemesis.

Across a series of hands, players take on these iconic roles and compete to win cases. The game’s crimes and clues are drawn from the stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, placing both players in a contest of deduction, planning, and opposing objectives.

  • Moriarty: Set the final pieces of a criminal plan into place and aim to score three positions in a row.
  • Holmes: Search for the clues needed to foil Moriarty’s plans before the master plan can be activated.
  • Both players: Draft crimes and clues, win cases, and mark successful positions on the scenario board.

If Moriarty scores three in a row, he can activate his master plan and win. If Holmes manages to foil Moriarty’s plans, Holmes wins instead.

With its asymmetric roles and focused two-player format, Holmes and Moriarty presents a direct clash between London’s greatest intellects. Every hand contributes to the larger contest as crimes, clues, and winning positions bring the rivals closer to their final confrontation.
