About this board game
I’m the Boss! is a negotiation and influence game for 3–6 players, played in about 60 minutes, in which players compete to build the biggest bankroll by closing lucrative deals.
Each player receives an Investor card, five Influence cards, and a chance to control negotiations around the board. Every board space represents a potential deal, showing which Investors must approve it and how many dividends they receive. The Dollar marker determines which deal is currently available.
On a turn, a player may negotiate the deal where the marker rests or roll the die to move the marker clockwise. After the marker stops, the player can attempt to make the deal or draw three Influence cards, while keeping their hand within the twelve-card limit.
- Clan cards can stand in for Investors.
- Travel cards put specific or chosen Investors out of play for the negotiation.
- Recruitment cards, played in sets of three, steal another player’s Investor.
- Boss cards give control of the negotiations.
- Stop cards immediately cancel Travel, Recruitment, and Boss effects.
When a deal is struck, players negotiate how to divide the money at stake, calculated from the deal’s dividends and share value. The bank pays the agreed amounts, the completed deal is covered on the board, and the Dollar marker moves to the next open space.
After nine deals have been made, each later deal brings a die roll that may end the game, with the odds increasing each time. In I’m the Boss!, timing, persuasion, and carefully chosen Influence cards all matter as players race to finish with the largest bankroll.
