About this board game
Imperialism: Road to Domination is a strategy board game for 2–4 players, played in about 90 minutes, covering the period from the 15th to the 19th century. Each player controls a superpower and seeks to transform it into the most powerful empire.
Build your nation through economic growth, social and civilization achievements, and increased goods production. At the same time, modernize and expand your land army and fleet so you can confront rival superpowers, conquer minor countries, and seize overseas lands.
War can be costly, draining your treasury and putting precious prestige at risk. Imperialism: Road to Domination therefore rewards more than military strength. Plots, lies, empty promises, careful negotiations, and thoughtful alliances may offer a better path than an exhausting conflict you cannot win.
- Create an enormous colonial empire.
- Pursue military dominion in Europe.
- Develop a territorially small but economically strong country.
The dissenters demand particular attention, especially early in the game, when they possess greater military power and may draw others into a religious war. Your choices, luck, and reactions to the other players all shape the struggle, while changing military and economic circumstances require a flexible approach.
Change reigning rulers, brew plots, conspire, expand your forces, and decide when cooperation is wiser than conquest. Every route to domination requires sound strategic judgment. When the struggle ends, the player with the most glory points wins.
