In their Quiet Fields II: The Battle of Antietam is a two-player Civil War brigade game with a listed playing time of 240 minutes, while individual scenarios range from 2 to 30 hours. Set on September 17, 1862, it recreates the confrontation at Sharpsburg during the Maryland Campaign.

The Confederate Army of Northern Virginia is depleted after combat losses and heavy straggling, yet Robert E. Lee chooses to stand and fight. The Union Army of the Potomac has roughly twice as many troops, but George B. McClellan must overcome sluggish commanders and secure a victory that he believes is essential to preserving the Union.

Both sides face demanding decisions. The Confederate player must stretch a smaller force to its limits, while the Union player manages substantial numbers despite command difficulties. The game’s Advanced Command System makes leadership and timing central to the battle, rewarding careful player skill.

This second edition of the first Civil War Brigade Series game features completely redone maps and counters, updated to the latest graphic standards. It also adds new scenarios and command uses not included in the earlier edition.
