About this expansion

In Vino Morte: Caseus Vitae is a three-card expansion for 3–9 players, adding a cheese-stealing twist to the hidden-glass play of In Vino Morte in about 10 minutes.

During setup, each player receives a face-down glass as normal. Cheese cards may also be dealt out, with the dealer choosing which players receive them. Some players may therefore have cheese while others do not.

On a turn, a player may take the usual actions: drink a glass or swap glasses. With this expansion, there is another option: steal cheese from another player. Cheese cannot be given away, and no player may have more than one cheese card at a time.

The central effect of cheese appears when its holder drinks. If you have cheese, the results of your drink are reversed: wine will kill you, while poison will not. This gives cheese a powerful and dangerous role, making the decision to keep it, steal it, or drink with it especially significant.
