About this board game
Diamant is a quick press-your-luck game for 3–8 players, with play time of about 40 minutes. Players explore mine shafts or jungle paths, revealing cards and sharing the gems they discover.
Each turn, gems shown on a revealed card are shared evenly among the players still exploring. Any gems left over remain on the card, while everyone must decide whether to continue into danger or leave and secure their holdings.
The deck includes hazards that can abruptly end an expedition. If a particular hazard appears for the second time, every player still in the mine or on the path loses all gems collected during that round and flees empty-handed.
- Scorpions
- Snakes
- Poison gas
- Explosions
- Rockfalls
Leaving becomes increasingly tempting as explorers depart, because the remaining players receive larger shares of the gems. However, venturing farther also increases the risk of losing everything, making every decision a contest between caution and greed.
All editions of Incan Gold and later editions of Diamant add five artifact cards to the deck. An artifact cannot be taken when revealed; it is placed on the path instead. If exactly one player leaves at the end of that turn, that player collects the remaining path gems and the artifact, which is worth extra points at the end of the game.
With simple choices, escalating rewards, and sudden reversals, Diamant turns every expedition into a tense calculation: take what is safely available, or risk a deeper journey for a more valuable haul.
