About this board game
Industrial Waste is a fast, deep board game for 2–4 players that takes about 60 minutes. Designed by Jürgen Strohm, it puts players in charge of factories where resource decisions, technological development, and environmental risks are closely connected.
Players buy materials, complete orders, and invest money in technology improvements to earn victory points. However, every factory must also manage its waste output. Allow too much waste to accumulate in the factory dump, and an environmental disaster may strike, bringing hefty cleanup costs.
The game’s central challenge is finding more efficient ways to operate. Technological improvements can require less waste, fewer resources, and a reduced workforce, helping players develop their factories while limiting the dangers created by production.
- Bidding: Compete for the resources needed to run your factory.
- Hand management: Manage cards carefully to gain useful actions.
- Card drafting: Shape your available options through selective card choices.
- Factory development: Invest in technology and grow your factory’s value.
- Waste management: Balance production with the threat of costly environmental disasters.
Industrial Waste combines bidding, hand management, card drafting, and factory growth in a compact economic contest. The first player to grow their factory to a value of twenty triggers the end of the game, after which the player with the most points wins.
With its emphasis on efficient development and the consequences of waste, Industrial Waste asks players to think beyond immediate gains. Every investment can support progress, but careful management is essential when production leaves a lasting problem behind.
