Inflection Point: The Battle for Kalach and the Battle of Chir is a 2025 Battalion Combat Series game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of approximately 240 minutes. It depicts two important battles fought before and after Stalingrad on the steppes of southern Russia.

The Battle for Kalach took place in July 1942 after Case Blue, as Paulus’ Sixth Army sought to encircle and destroy Soviet armies before advancing into Stalingrad. The later Battle of Chir River saw the Soviets attempt to exploit their gains and block German relief operations, until the energetic 11th Panzer Division entered the battle.

These engagements capture an inflection point on the Eastern Front. The Red Army was developing into a capable offensive force, while German blitzkrieg successes were waning and German formations were increasingly placed on the defensive. Both battles offer offensive and defensive possibilities for either side, creating tense decisions throughout the campaign.

The game features forces associated with the Stalingrad fighting, including the 24th Panzer and 100th Jäger Divisions and the 62nd Army. Rules for crucial air supply reflect the logistical demands of sustaining the German offensive, while stubborn Soviet command is represented by Colonel Konstantin Zhuravlev.

Rivers, balkas, and small hills make the otherwise flat terrain of southern Russia tactically important. The included scenarios cover different aspects of these confrontations:
