About this board game
Interceptor Ace: Volume 2 – Last Days of the Luftwaffe, 1944-45 is a solitaire tactical air-combat game for 1 player, with sessions lasting about 180 minutes. You command a German day fighter during the final years of World War II, flying repeated missions against American bombers and their escorts.
Each turn covers several days and follows your pilot through preparation, takeoff, interception, combat, and the return flight. Weather can affect both the start of a mission and the landing, while encounters with Allied fighters may disrupt your route before you reach the bombers.
Your pilot’s career provides a strong narrative layer. Earn Prestige, awards, and Experience; choose crew improvements; purchase skills; request a new fighter; or transfer to another base. Survival is never guaranteed, and your ultimate goal is to become one of the Luftwaffe’s top aces while making it through the war.
- Fly 38 fighter models, including the Bf 109, FW 190, Me 262, Me 163, Do 335, He 162, and Go 229.
- Operate from base groups across regions including the Dutch, Bremen, French, Ruhr, Munich, Munster, Frankfurt, and Berlin areas.
- Manage pilot, wingman, and rear-gunner skills, with a wingman who may help rescue you from a dangerous situation.
- Account for both bomber and enemy fighter kills in your final victory, making dogfighting an important part of the campaign.
The system combines detailed aircraft, weapon, damage, ammunition, and crew information with a structured sequence that keeps missions moving. The game is standalone, while fans can combine it with Interceptor Ace 1943-44 to follow a German pilot’s career from 1943 through 1945. Cooperative and competitive options are also provided for multiplayer sessions.
