About this board game

Internal Affairs is a 35-minute hidden-identity elimination game for 2–8 players, set in a struggle between infiltrators from the Triad and the Police Force.

Both sides have been infiltrated, and years undercover have left nobody certain of their original allegiance. Each player has secret ID cards that determine their current side, along with a secret code protecting their real identity.

At the beginning of the game, every player receives five code cards and chooses three to form the code that locks their identity file. During a turn, players try to crack other players’ codes and discover who is really working for which team.

  • Secret identities: Hidden ID cards determine each player’s allegiance.
  • Code cracking: Break an opponent’s three-card secret code to reveal their real identity.
  • Shifting loyalties: Action cards can pass ID cards between players, changing allegiances during the game.
  • High-stakes elimination: Expose the enemy or take the chance to change an identity for good before the opposing side wins.

The identity changes make every revelation uncertain. A player who appears to belong to one team may no longer hold the same allegiance later, so everyone must act quickly before ending up on the losing side.

Designed for 5–8 players, Internal Affairs also includes alternative rules for games with 2–4 participants. The result is a compact battle of deduction, deception, and changing loyalties in which nobody can be certain who is who.
