About this board game

Into the Blue is a dice-driven underwater treasure game for 2–5 players, played in about 25 minutes. Take the role of a team of divers exploring five depths, competing to control the levels and recover the most valuable treasures.

On your turn, roll six dice up to three times, choosing which dice to keep and which to re-roll. The dice show numbers from 1 to 5 and treasure chests. When you stop, place shells on one of the levels you successfully reached, but your dive must pass through the intervening levels. If your result contains no 1, you place no shells at all.

  • Build a route through the depths with your dice results.
  • Place shells to establish your presence and compete for control.
  • Roll the complete 1–2–3–4–5–chest sequence to claim a random treasure chest worth 5–8 points and take another turn.

For example, a roll of 1-1-2-3-5-5 lets you place two shells on level 1, one shell on level 2, or one shell on level 3. You cannot place shells on level 5 unless the required path through level 4 has been reached.

The game ends immediately when the fifth chest is claimed. It can also end when a player places their last shell; in that case, every other player receives one final turn.

Each level awards a main treasure token to the player with the most shells and a secondary token to the player with the second-most. In games with 4–5 players, the player in third place also scores. Ties are resolved by comparing shell totals on the level immediately above. Add the points from your treasure tokens and chest to determine the winner. With its blend of dice control, route-building, and area competition, Into the Blue makes every dive a calculated gamble.
