About this board game

Invaders is a card-driven science-fiction board game for two players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. One player commands extraterrestrial conquerors, while the other leads the united forces of Earth in an asymmetrical conflict shaped by warfare, horror, and desperate decisions.

The Invaders seek to transform Earth and subjugate its inhabitants. Their arsenal combines unthinkable weapons, unknowable technologies, war-machines, engineered eldritch creatures, and schemes designed to spread chaos and destruction. They win by defeating defending forces at key locations and exhausting the Earth player’s reserves, including by disrupting cards from the deck into the discard pile.

Humanity must protect critical resources and locations while confronting an inexorable enemy. The Terran alliance draws on military machinery, elite strike-teams, warfare scientists, and neighborhood militias. Though outgunned and relying on salvaged or untested technology, these defenders can still bloody the Invaders when the two forces meet.

  • Asymmetrical gameplay: each side uses cards differently to pursue its own objectives.
  • Meaningful choices: deploying an asset may require discarding another, making every commitment matter.
  • Tactical conflict: predict enemy strikes, exploit weaknesses, press an advantage, or set a trap.

Both players must decide when to sacrifice an asset for a better option and how to manage a limited array of forces. The Invader must choose carefully when to deploy creatures, machines, and schemes, while the human player must make bold plans with heroes who are small in number.

With simple, elegant rules supporting varied outcomes, Invaders creates a slightly different story each time. Choose your side and determine whether Earth’s defenders can withstand the arrival of a doom spawned on the other side of the galaxy.
