About this board game

Iron Curtain is a two-player Cold War strategy game with an approximately 30-minute play time, pitting the United States against the Soviet Union in a struggle for superpower control.

Using only 18 cards, players build a card-shaped world map that looks different in every game. Each turn presents a sharp strategic dilemma: where should your next card go, and what opportunity might it create—or deny—for your opponent?

The game lasts just nine turns, with each player playing one card per turn. This simple structure keeps the action focused while making every decision matter. The tension comes not only from the cards themselves, but also from judging when and how your opponent may use them.

  • Two-player Cold War conflict: Play as the US or the Soviet Union.
  • Dynamic world map: Cards create a different map from game to game.
  • Compact strategy: Learn the game quickly and face meaningful choices in every turn.
  • Psychological tension: Read your opponent as you compete to influence the tides of war.

Will the Soviet player pursue control in Europe while giving up Africa? Will the US place Cuba out of reach of Soviet troops on the map? These choices capture the uncertainty and competing priorities of the Cold War in a concise format.

In Iron Curtain, timing is as important as card selection. With only nine turns to shape the struggle, each play can become a battle of wills and a decisive step toward victory.
